Roger Waters Rejects Mark Zuckerberg After Being Offered To Use A Pink Floyd Song For Promotion

Pink Floyd legend Roger Waters revealed that he didn’t accept the offer of Mark Zuckerberg when he wanted to use an iconic Pink Floyd song to promote Instagram and Facebook on his Twitter account. Waters admitted his response after a journalist posted a tweet about it.

Previously, Facebook founder, Mark Zuckerberg wanted to use Pink Floyd’s legendary song, ‘Another Brick in the Wall’ during the promotion process of Facebook and Instagram. Therefore Zuckerberg offered a great deal of money probably millions to Roger Waters to be able to use the song. However, Roger Waters’ answer was very harsh due to his regarding Facebook as a place of censorship.

As you may know, Pink Floyd’s eleventh studio album entitled ‘The Wall’ was released on November 30, 1979. It was defined as a rock opera and became one of the best albums of all time along with being one of the band’s most successful albums by receiving positive reviews. It stayed at number one on the US charts for fifteen weeks and reached number three on the UK charts.

One of the most iconic songs of the album, ‘Another Brick in the Wall’ consisted of three parts that reflect a wall created because of the loss of a father, abusive teachers, an overprotective mother, and a mental breakdown. Roger Waters was on the lead vocals, bass guitar and David Gilmour was on the guitar, harmony vocals with many more. The song was also written by Roger Waters.

After investigative journalist, Peter Cronau revealed that Roger Waters rejected the offer of Mark Zuckerberg saying that ‘Fuck off’ when he wanted to use ‘Another Brick in the Wall’ as a promotion of Facebook and Instagram. Waters admitted what he said even if he offered a great deal of money on his Twitter account. Also, he stated that people can call him a hypocrite due to his still using Facebook.
